Infection Control Systems 2012
Breaking Barriers and Getting Value

June 29, 2012

Market penetration for electronic infection control systems is still shallow (estimated to be 25%–30%), despite the fact that infection preventionists (IPs) are struggling to juggle improved patient care while meeting hefty mandated reporting requirements. Upcoming incentives and penalties from value-based purchasing may drive more widespread use. Which vendors are providers looking at, and how well do those vendors’ solutions work? To answer these questions, KLAS spoke with 119 providers still managing their organization on paper and 202 currently using an infection control system. Research focused on system performance for NHSN reporting, analytics, interfacing, and ability to enhance IPs’ efforts.
