Release Date 8/15/2008
This is KLAS’ 5th Clinical Information Systems (CIS) Perception Study, a study that included 164 provider interviews from 157 unique organizations. Information gathered here is at times compared to either clinical market share data (1,473 survey pool of hospitals 200 beds or greater) or CPOE data (303 provider interviews) obtained earlier this year.
KLAS began monitoring the CIS market in 2001. Follow-up studies were conducted in 2003, 2004, and 2006 and now in 2008. In 2001 41% had no CIS solution. By 2003 we had a new market entrant GE, a different strategy with Pyxis Visual Med and the hype of CPOE.
Vendors qualifying for ranking in the study were Cerner, Eclipsys, Epic, GE, McKesson, Meditech, QuadraMed, and Siemens.
Perception studies focus on provider perceptions rather than actual performance scores in the marketplace.
