Digital Radiography 2008

April 15, 2008

Despite the growth in advanced medical imaging procedures such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR), x-ray imaging continues to dominate as a standard diagnostic procedure. Digital Radiography (DR) is growing in adoption as healthcare organizations move towards an all digital workflow, particularly since the widespread adoption of PACS.

KLAS recently interviewed over 170 healthcare professionals regarding their experiences with their DR vendors.

Key findings include:

  • 92% of respondents reported throughput as a DR benefit which in turn impacts ROI. Which systems require the least amount of care and feeding?
  • Providers were satisfied generally with both the performance of their DR equipment and their vendor. Which DR vendors differentiate themselves by responding to provider issues timely and accurately?
  • 90% of providers said they would buy DR again from their vendor. Where are vendors missing the mark?

Products qualifying for ranking in the study were:

  • FUJIFILM FDR Velocity SpeedSuite
  • GE Definium 8000
  • Philips DigitalDiagnost DR
  • Shimadzu RadSpeed DR
  • Siemens AXIOM Multix M

Early findings were also included for Carestream (Kodak) DirectView DR 7500, IDC Xplorer 2200 X-Series, Quantum Medical Imaging Q-RAD DR, and Toshiba T.RAD Plus Digital.
