Finding the Right Stepping-Stone to Full EMR

October 2, 2009

More than 30 healthcare IT (HIT) vendors offer DMI solutions, but which solutions best serve as a stepping-stone between a paper record and a full EMR? Does one DMI product/vendor offer a sure bet for success? According to provider feedback, almost any organization can find DMI success with either of the top-performing products on the market, MedPlus ChartMaxx or Hyland OnBase. Both vendors exhibit a consistent track record of performance; however, depending on an organization’s goals and resources, other DMI solutions may provide a better fit.

Although it can be daunting, the pursuit for the best DMI fit doesn’t have to be undertaken alone. More than 400 providers shared their DMI vendor experiences to help answer the following questions: Does it always make sense for organizations to purchase a DMI solution from their EMR vendor? Which DMI solutions integrate and interface well with different EMRs? Which products can be leveraged for other hospital departments? Which vendors offer the best support to organizations?
