Meaningful Use Attestation 2012
Early Birds Take Flight

February 17, 2012

At present, meaningful use (MU) is one of the most focused-on initiatives in American healthcare. As of November 2011, 833 (or roughly 14%) of U.S. hospitals have attested to meeting Stage 1 requirements, with many more lining up to follow. CMS data shows that both large and small hospital vendors found success in the first year of MU attestation. Hospitals using Allscripts, Healthland, HMS, McKesson, and Siemens were slower to take off than others using Cerner, CPSI, Epic, and MEDITECH. Why are some vendors ahead and others behind? Which providers felt their vendor was prepared to attest, and who weathered a few storms? And how confident are providers in their vendor for meeting Stages 1–2? KLAS interviewed 104 successful provider attesters to find out.
