Extensive IT Outsourcing 2006

December 19, 2006

The 2006 Extensive IT Outsourcing Study seeks to focus on how to differentiate among suppliers of this critical service by understanding the experience of other North American acute care providers deploying outsourcing to provide greater than 50 percent of their IT resources.

With the participation of healthcare providers, KLAS has once again been able to thoroughly interview or at least confirm the status of virtually all the appropriate healthcare facilities in North America and readers of today’s report will find a presentation of those organizations that are currently outsourcing, previously outsourced, or changing outsourcing suppliers.

In this second report on the subject, providers encouraged KLAS to continue to:

  • Evaluate the performance of the professional service firms and relevant groups within software solutions organizations
  • Understand the benefits and difficulties of using outsourcing capabilities
  • Delve into the circumstances and tactics that result from discontinuing outsourcing or changing outsourcing providers

Outsourcing Firms Included in Study

  • ACS
  • Eclipsys
  • First Consulting Group (FCG)
  • McKesson
  • Perot Systems
  • Siemens

Early data is also included on CareTech and PHNS, along with overviews on CSC, InfoHealth Management, Phoenix Health Systems and SAIC.
