Medical Transcription Services Organizations 2007

September 4, 2007

Cost, turnaround time and quality are still the drivers for engagement in this market segment, and always will be. The good news is that providers have told KLAS that they have better options now than last year. Observers of this market clearly see that provider demand is expanding and symbiotically increasing MTSO supply.

  • Customer satisfaction is strengthening
  • The MTSOs have increased capacity
  • MTSO staffing tactics are aggressive and bold, and are typically available to a provider organization
  • Perceived and actual risk management objections to offshore services are being addressed
  • Providers continue to feel strongly about offshore services and their comments show that they either love or hate them
  • The overall MTSO performance improved from 77.2 to 81.7
  • Overall, 76 percent of the total transcription volume was outsourced by the healthcare providers in this research versus 75 percent last year

This study reports on 16 MTSOs:

  • Acusis
  • Axolotl
  • CBay
  • DSG
  • Encompass
  • Focus Informatics
  • Heartland
  • MDI
  • MedQuist
