Community Hospital EMRs Maturing for Meaningful Use
Community hospitals have lagged behind larger hospitals in the adoption of advanced clinical technologies such as clinician documentation, CPOE, and barcoding medication administration. As adoption of these advanced clinical systems is required for fast-approaching meaningful use (MU) incentives, pressure is mounting on vendors to produce both a full-featured and clinician-friendly EMR. Healthcare providers with low confidence in their current vendors are increasingly aggressive in looking elsewhere, as a full 20% of the survey pool was considering switching EMR vendors.
