India EMR 2025
An Initial Look at Adoption in a Rapidly Evolving Market
Although hospital information management systems have been widely used in India for years, EMRs have gained momentum and seen more widespread adoption over the last several years. This is partly due to the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), which launched in 2021 to enhance the digital health ecosystem in India, and the new EMR certification program from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). To highlight what is happening with EMRs in India, KLAS partnered with CHIME India to survey 70 individuals representing 55 organisations. This report—KLAS’ first to focus on India—shares what proportion of organisations have adopted EMRs (homegrown versus commercial), how deeply the EMRs are being adopted, how satisfied organisations are with their EMR and whether they plan to keep using their current solution. Respondents also shared advice for peers who are looking to select an EMR.
