With a proactive and expeditious approach, R1 stepped forward to support the needs of our associates, customers, and the patients and communities we serve. Grounded in a commitment to safety, health, and well-being, we implemented a holistic associate support program for the vast majority of our associates, designed to allow a seamless and secure work-from-home environment with ongoing professional and personal support.
Further, through our dedicated COVID-19 Taskforce and Response Team, we built a robust communications platform through our COVID-19 intranet page containing continual communications, guidance, toolkits, personal wellness programming, and FAQs. And, we have conducted regularly scheduled associate town halls and follow-up surveying to ensure we are supporting our global workforce in this challenging time.
For our customers, we partnered to address various challenges and deliver high-value support. Of note, we implemented our Patient Experience (PX) remote registration technology that leverages a patient’s smartphone to perform registration without physical contact. During COVID-19, this technology has preserved personal protective equipment (PPE) and reduced cross-contamination of shared equipment, ensuring greater safety for patients and staff alike. Also, we installed plexiglass protective barriers at more than 3,700 access points while allowing additional patient services staff to work safely and productively from home.
Further, we released a public-facing COVID-19 Regulatory Resource Center, which provides updates on critical issues, including CMS and HHS updates, CARES Act, COVID-19 revenue cycle operations, telemedicine, Medicare’s expanded accelerated payment program, and practitioner tips. In support of our physician services’ customers, we have provided regular consultation and guidance on telemedicine billing and coding, CMS Advanced Payments, and Payroll Protection Program guidance. In each area, we have provided webinar and video conference programming with a commitment to providing subject matter expertise and practical guidance throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
