Healthcare AI Update 2025
What Use Cases Are Adopted the Most?
Healthcare organizations increasingly view AI as an essential tool for improving performance, and they are investing in AI to streamline documentation, improve operational efficiency, and alleviate staffing challenges. Although enthusiasm is strong, most organizations are focused on automating well-defined, lower-risk workflows (e.g., ambient speech, coding support, administrative tasks) and are cautious about higher-stakes clinical applications. At the same time, healthcare leaders are developing governance frameworks and running targeted pilots to evaluate safety, oversight, and measurable ROI before broader AI deployment. This report—an update to the previous Healthcare AI 2025 report—examines how healthcare organizations are using AI, which use cases are most common, what vendors are being used and considered, and what areas organizations plan to invest in going forward. This report is intended to be a high-level look at healthcare AI use cases; to view KLAS data on AI use cases in specific areas or departments, use the links provided throughout the report. KLAS plans to conduct more specific AI research in the future.
