Due to struggles with complex enterprise systems, integration, interoperability, and the growing complexity of the HIT regulatory environment, healthcare providers have a burgeoning need for help with a wide variety of IT assessment, strategy, and operational engagements. This research will focus on helping CIOs understand: Which firms offer the broadest scope of advisory services? Who is doing the most HIT advisory work? Which IT advisory firms understand healthcare's unique challenges? In which areas does each firm excel? And which firms lead in providing quality consultants, strategic competency, operational execution, and tools & methodology?

With HIT complexity growing by the day, it is more important than ever for provider organizations to map out well-defined and actionable IT strategies. In this endeavor, organizations clearly value having a true strategy partner, and they have several solid options to choose from. The IT assessment and strategic planning market is high performing overall, with 59% of respondents reporting that their firm exceeded their expectations. Among this wide pool of good performers, which firms stand out as great? Interviews with leaders from 83 healthcare organizations that recently completed or were involved in an IT assessment or strategy project reveal which firms consistently exceed clients’ expectations.
