High in Demand but More Specialized in Need
The need for consultants with specialized and vendor-specific expertise is growing. Increasing amounts of community hospitals and hospitals under 500 beds are acquiring and implementing EMRs, and they are reaching out to consultants for guidance and assistance. Many larger hospitals needing clinical documentation and CPOE assistance are seeking consultants to assist in a supportive capacity. Consequently, this environment has produced an increasing number of overall projects, but fewer projects in which firms take the lead in large-scale implementations.
