As healthcare technology advances, organizations increasingly rely on skilled experts to implement, manage, and optimize these tools. Yet demographic shifts, workforce shortages, and competition from higher-paying industries have made attracting and retaining skilled talent increasingly difficult. Further, shifting federal policies and evolving reimbursement models have added uncertainty and financial pressure to an already complex environment. To address both workforce and financial challenges, many healthcare organizations turn to HIT professional services firms for support—ranging from strategic consulting and advisory work to implementation assistance, staff augmentation, and managed services. To understand healthcare leaders’ approach to this market, where they are continually pressured to do more with less, KLAS interviewed 105 CIOs about their strategies and plans for investing in HIT professional services to drive results.
