Infection Control
Improving Patient Care and Reimbursements
With millions of dollars on the line, hospitals are scrambling to acquire effective infection control (IC) solutions, especially after the CMS discontinued reimbursement for hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and other “never events” last October 1. The Center for Disease Control approximates that two million hospital patients each year contract infections unconnected to the conditions for which they were admitted. These infections cause roughly 90 thousand deaths and escalate patient-care costs by 4.5 to 5.7 billion annually. With IC solution tools, infection control practitioners (ICPs) can identify infection trends and improve hospital practices, instead of dedicating funds and man hours to a manual trend search.
