CIS Purchase Decisions
Riding the ARRA Wave
The incentives created for healthcare providers in the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) helped clinical information system (CIS) vendors have a big year overall in 2009. In acute care hospitals with 200 beds or more, nearly twice as many new systems were sold in 2009 than were sold in 2008. But this wave of new sales is affecting each vendor differently. Those who anticipated the wave are enjoying an extra boost, while those that didn’t see it coming are now trying to keep their heads above water. How is each vendor faring in the new market? By independently validating vendor-claimed wins, KLAS investigated which vendors are riding the ARRA wave and which are floundering in its wake.
