Hybrid Labs Hit the Mark
Current Performance of Cardiovascular/Interventional X-ray
Hybrid labs are the new thing in cardiac and vascular care. Whether for catheterizations or interventional radiology requirements, “the end result is exceptional image quality with the product suited for a large variety of vascular and interventional procedures” (Director of radiology from an academic medical center).
The industry is trending towards these high-end, multipurpose suites in order to improve efficiencies and flexibility, and to maximize return on investment. Instead of buying a specialized modality to be used only as a cath lab, a hybrid lab can be scheduled for a wide assortment of procedures and used as an overflow room if other equipment is overbooked. Hybrid labs are the utility players of cardiac and intravascular care. While clients may sacrifice some specialized functionality, they realize real gains by using less real estate for multiple procedures and having rooms with higher utilization rates.
