Points of Light 2022 Case Study 10
Prior Authorization for Imaging Automated Via CDS Technology
UVA Health realized that the government-mandated clinical decision support they used when placing imaging orders for Medicare patients could potentially be leveraged to expedite the prior authorization process while also improving providers’ imaging order patterns. As a result, the organization partnered with Change Healthcare and one of their commercial payers to leverage the clinical decision support mechanism for non-Medicare patients and expedite the prior authorization process, leading to significant benefits for patients, ordering providers, and the payer organization.
