Talent Management 2015
Does Anyone Deliver a Developed, Broad, Integrated Suite?
In a world now dominated by mobile capabilities and the influence of social media, healthcare organizations using talent management (TM) solutions still call for the basic yet critical needs of system integration, an intuitive workflow, broad functionality, and heightened vendor involvement. Does any vendor deliver all the basics?
BREADTH AND PERFORMANCE OF TALENT MANAGEMENT VENDORS
1. HALOGEN & HEALTHCARESOURCE LEAD WITH BROAD, EFFICIENT TM SUITE, SOLID INTEGRATION, AND HELPFUL SERVICE
HealthcareSource delivers a full suite of TM modules and is the only vendor in this report with validated, widespread use of all of their offerings. Halogen and HealthcareSource provide easy-to-use functionality, excellent support, and seamless HRIS integration, though both vendors have clients reporting integration issues with outside talent management modules or vendors. Halogen clients note increased efficiency through strong, intuitive performance appraisal, goal setting, and monitoring. With good in-suite integration, HealthcareSource’s robust applicant tracking reportedly improves the talent pool and positively impacts the quality of patient care. Despite some Halogen customers highlighting ease of use, others complain of a clunky workflow, an underdeveloped suite, and a high system cost. HealthcareSource clients express frustration with undeveloped reporting capabilities, and early experiences with the newest version (v.11) are mixed.
DEVELOPMENT & REALTIONSHIP
2. INFOR AND ORACLE LEAD HRIS MARKET SHARE, STRUGGLE TO GAIN TRACTION IN TALENT MANAGEMENT
Infor and Oracle PeopleSoft clients report strong core functionality, solid HR integration with their native HRIS, some feature flexibility, and optimism that new versions/ products will improve mediocre in-suite integration and deliver new functionality (including social and mobile). However, both vendors have issues preventing them from fully leveraging their high HR market share to gain more talent management clients. Several Infor clients report difficult upgrades and high costs, and say the suite feels piecemealed. Many of Oracle’s customers complain of an expensive system, clunky functionality, and inadequate vendor engagement. SAP customers express high hopes for SAP’s forward direction despite historically poor product development and an inattentive vendor.
INTEGRATION & RETENTION
3. LMS VENDORS HAVE HIGH IMPACT ON PATIENT CARE AND SATISFACTION
Elsevier, HealthcareSource (who acquired NetLearning in December of 2012), and HealthStream are the three most frequently used vendors for learning management systems (LMSs). Clientele from all three report their LMS having a high impact on patient care due to valuable content that can be accessed remotely. Elsevier clients highlight the firm’s remote access and evidence-based learning, while HealthcareSource clients call out the quality content for impacting outcomes. HealthStream clients most often mention a robust content library as well as excellent employee-credentials tracking. Among those clients looking to replace their LMS, HealthStream is the most considered vendor for replacement.
IMPACT ON PATIENT CARE, SATISFACTION
4. PEOPLEFLUENT'S INTUITIVE AND USER-FRIENDLY PLATFORM OFFSET BY LACK OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
PeopleFluent offers excellent recruiting and managerial visibility through applicant tracking, and most clients report a strong UI for performance management. Others mention the lack of in-suite integration, buggy upgrades, and quality management concerns that drive down customer loyalty; one-third of clients interviewed in this report would not choose PeopleFluent again. Some also feel that PeopleFluent has fallen behind in development. The new, integrated Mirror Suite software is not yet driving market adoption.
