Sound Physicians is a physician-led company providing hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, anesthesia, and telemedicine services to the communities we serve. Sound Physicians leverages nearly 20 years of training and education experience to build efficient and repeatable advisory services placements.

Across our experience with advisory programs, the most effective physician advisory services are those that seamlessly integrate into clinical workflows and practices. Technology also plays an important enabling role that promotes both efficiency and coverage, and our ASSURe technology can identify the right cases for a physician advisor review. Still, technology is not enough—only a trained physician advisor with the ability to integrate as a peer into clinical workflows can achieve the desired results.

One top initiative to improve customers' satisfaction in 2022 is to hire and train physician advisor experts who look at the whole continuum of care and address the root cause of most hospitals' revenue cycle issues: status. We are leveraging our years of experience and enhanced technology to identify cases for review sooner during the patient stay so that clinical teams can change the patient status when medically necessary to reduce downstream denials and improve revenue. In order to do this, we are investing in expert educators, robust reporting for our hospital customers, and technology platforms that integrate with EMRs and hospital medicine programs.

Another top initiative is to invest in our education and training platforms for our own physician advisors and customers. Physician advisors play an integrated role between hospital leadership, medical staff, and external payers. This integrated role is essential to a hospital's health by changing long-standing behaviors that contribute to inefficiencies through ongoing education. We use our education and training platform and modules that are integrated with our technology to enable repeatable, consistent, and clinical guidelines. We provide ongoing clinical documentation education and continuous process improvement recommendations for providers, and we apply payer guidelines to reduce unnecessary secondary reviews.

Sound Physicians’ programs offer support that consistently outperforms in-house models without intrusion or overreliance on external services by changing physicians’ behaviors and driving performance-improvement results. Sound Physicians provides full-time, on-site physician advisors, full-time or part-time remote support services (including on nights and weekends), education and training for hospital-employed advisors, and our proprietary ASSURe technology. All our models support status determinations, peer-to-peer reviews, and denial appeals.
