Extended Business Office Services
Money Talks
Most healthcare provider organizations use third-party firms for Extended Business Office Services (EBOS), but the engagements are varied. These services range from temporary project-based work, such as netting down A/R or handling batches of legacy receivables, to continual assistance with things like financial clearance or ongoing A/R follow-up of a certain insurer, age, or dollar amount. Just as there is a wide variety of services that business process outsourcing (BPO) firms offer, there is a wide variety of firms from which providers can choose. The 90 provider survey respondents in this study identified a total of 21 total firms they were utilizing, of which 10 qualified to be included in this report (7 ranked and 3 for early trending). To make the landscape even more complex, many of these BPO firms specialize in one or two revenue cycle services and in certain facility sizes.
