In 2022, Amwell is continuing to build out and migrate all clients to their highly flexible and scalable Converge platform. Converge was born during the pandemic out of the profound shift in telehealth usage from transactional to longitudinal care, and the platform is thus designed to provide deeper connectivity between healthcare players with unmatched simplicity, reliability, and scalability. Increasingly, clients are looking to do away with point solutions they implemented during the pandemic in preference of having a single platform that can support all virtual care needs. Converge answers this demand by making all of Amwell’s products, programs, modules, and Carepoint devices (as well as applications from leading innovators) available in one place with a single codebase. This provides a seamless and unified care experience and strengthens existing patient-provider relationships across all types of care.
Central to the Converge platform is its enhanced reliability and simplicity. It features fast and reliable video and audio connections and the ability to easily upgrade these core components over time, ensuring that clients have access to the best connectivity experience for the future. The platform can be integrated with existing workflows, EHRs, patient portals, and consumer experiences to provide faster, easier deployment and to support the delivery of care no matter where the patient or provider originates. The platform is also modular and ready for the future in order to address the fact that all customers have unique needs that will change over time. Customers can choose the features and functions they want now and easily add additional capabilities as needed.
In 2021, Amwell acquired SilverCloud Health, a leader in digital mental health platforms, and Conversa Health, a leader in automated virtual healthcare, and is now integrating the capabilities of these companies’ platforms with the Amwell platform. Both SilverCloud Health and Conversa Health have shown they can enable a more efficient blend of in-person, virtual, and digital care and, in turn, have helped to lower operational and healthcare costs and to advance care outcomes. By adding the technology of these two companies to Converge, clients will be able to materially advance the reach and impact of care teams on patients’ lives through the use of interactive tools that strengthen the cohesion between physical and virtual care.
