ICD EVENTS AND KLAS RESEARCH ANNOUNCE A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SIXTH ANNUAL PATIENT EXPERIENCE SYMPOSIUM

As healthcare issues ebb and flow with political partisanship and competing legislation, patients demand an improved experience, and their assessments matter more than ever. But what exactly is the patient experience, and how can healthcare leaders strengthen it?

The Sixth Annual Patient Experience Symposium will convene in Boston, Massachusetts, from September 19–21 and will feature three days of keynote presentations, case studies and in-depth, hands-on workshops designed to help improve the patient experience.

The Symposium will bring together healthcare executives and practitioners dedicated to understanding how to improve the overall patient experience within their facilities. Doing so can result in better outcomes for the patient, a more engaged healthcare workforce and potentially lower overall costs to the patient and facility.

KLAS Research is a preeminent healthcare research organization at the forefront of providing reports and insights regarding improving the overall patient experience and will be presenting at the Symposium.

Dan Czech, the senior insights director from KLAS, and Adam Cherrington, the senior research director for patient engagement from KLAS, will share their most recent findings from interviewing almost 13,000 patients about preferences and expectations regarding patient engagement technology.

They will also lead an interactive workshop on how organizations can better include the patient's perspective at their organizations in the future. This hands-on session will allow organizations to gain new insights, share best practices and come away with specific action items to help ensure that patients are better represented. After the session, KLAS and the Patient Experience Symposium intend to share a white paper of the key findings.

Dan and Adam will cover the following discussion points in the interactive workshop:

  • Many organizations discuss the importance of being patient-centric. What is working today in your organization that helps you listen to and include patients in discussions on technology and processes?
  • Which roles in your organization can/should help oversee these efforts?
  • What other best practices exist/should exist to help organizations get leadership buy-in?
  • What steps should be taken to ensure patient privacy while gathering their perspectives?

"This Symposium brings together outstanding voices from many disciplines, all with the goal of helping healthcare providers, administrators and allied professionals to improve medical care by optimizing the patient experience. The presenters challenge the brain and touch the heart," says ICDevents President Bill Doherty.

Driven by the rising patient share of healthcare costs and new assertive activism by patients, hospitals and clinics are discovering that there is a new sheriff in town. A program of diverse speakers will enable provider organizations and their professionals to adjust to the new power that resides in the hands of the patient, ultimately improving outcomes and patient satisfaction. These visionary speakers will share best practices, tools to overcome systemic obstacles and their accounts of working in a healthcare system that has long been resistant to change.

In preparation for the Symposium, Dan Czech from KLAS said, "We are excited to facilitate a discussion at the upcoming Patient Experience Symposium on consumerism and patient centricity. We look forward to helping organizations collaborate to improve the technology experience they deliver for their patients."

The KLAS Research presentation and all recorded sessions from the Sixth Annual Patient Experience Symposium will be available on the ICD Healthcare Network.
