Nursing EHR Success - Sutter Health
Arch Collaborative Learning Summit 2020
For many organizations, reducing documentation is one key to improving the EHR user experience. Sutter Health has been able to accomplish this goal for their perioperative nurses. By going to frontline nurses to design and validate the best workflows, creating a train-the-trainers program, and building superusers, the Sutter Health team was able to develop a program that decreased the number of flowsheet rows for preop by 45% and for PAT by 65%. It also decreased the number of flowsheet templates by 91%. This led to a nearly 45-point jump in the Net EHR Experience score of these nurses. Come listen as Donna Woelfel, Fiona Dennison, and Megan Haberlein detail how they built a program that decreased documentation, increased efficiency, provided more standardization, and ultimately led to a decreased cognitive burden in EHR charting.
