Scaling Ambient AI Beyond the Clinic: Enterprise EHR Transformation Across Specialties and Roles

M Health Fairview and Nabla partnered to improve EHR experience by embedding ambient AI and dictation into clinical workflows across physicians, nurses, care management, pharmacy, and rehabilitation. KLAS data showed ambient-speech physicians had the highest measured Net EHR Experience Score (59), with reduced after-hours work, cognitive burden, and burnout and improved patient interaction; clinicians reported saving 30–60 minutes per clinic day. The teams expanded beyond outpatient notes with workflows and best practices, supported by superusers, Epic optimization, communications, training, office hours, coaching, on-site rounding, and feedback loops. Governance coordinated informatics, IT, operations, and Nabla teams. Attendees learned how to operationalize ambient AI across roles, scale it through governance and training, and apply Fairview’s lessons to enterprise deployment, showing that scale requires clinical leadership, measurable outcomes, and specialty-specific practice.
